Winter show.

My art is a personal response to the contemporary world and popular culture. Recently my work has been focusing on the destruction of nature by mankind and climate change. I am interested in human response. The way different people respond in different ways to certain types of work. From a previous project ‘The Rebirth of Trees’ from my observations I found that a lot of people are unaware or there is just a lack of care about the environment around them. As a consumer culture we tend to solely focus on our image and ourselves. There is a lack of care for our surrounding environments and those around us. This may occur because we do not want to face reality. Or our own ignorance and selfish behaviour will destroy us all. “As human beings we are programmed to respond to threats that are simple and short term. We are not programmed to respond to threats that are complex and long term.” (http://www.21stcenturyleader.co.uk/most_people_ignore/)

This particular series of work is about how most of us as a human society take such lack of care about the destruction to our natural surrounds and climate change. These pieces are based on that humans are unable to plan more than thirty years ahead of our selves. There are very few who can. So even if we are aware of the changes we choose to ignore them and hide them away. My human figures are submerged into walls or the floors this represents how we our hiding these problems away and choosing to ignore them. However it is a serious issue that could be dealt with a lot better as one whole human race.

This was a lot of fun carrying down the street you would surprised the different sort of reactions you get carrying a headless man down the street.
I still need to install these pieces in the streets. Keep checking for more pictures coming soon...
